About Judge Levy-Reis
Judge Amanda Levy-Reis serves on the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, where she oversees Unified Family Court and a portion of the Collier County probate docket. Appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis, she started her service on April 21, 2025. Known for her strong commitment to the Constitution and her belief in limited judicial power, her decisions mirror a philosophy grounded in personal responsibility, respect for tradition, and constitutional principles, ensuring her rulings adhere to the law and safeguard individual rights.
Her legal career spans over 20 years and includes extensive service in the federal judiciary. For more than a decade, Judge Levy-Reis worked as a federal law clerk for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, advising Article III judges and drafting thousands of judicial orders. She later continued her federal service in the Eastern District of California, helping establish a new magistrate judge’s chambers and managing a large and diverse docket. These experiences strengthened her conviction that a judge’s role is not to create policy but to faithfully interpret the law and uphold the Constitution's clear boundaries.
Judge Levy-Reis also worked in the private sector, handling civil and commercial cases in both state and federal courts, and served as a civil traffic hearing officer in Lee, Charlotte, and Hendry counties. Her role demanded sound judgment, a calm courtroom demeanor, and a disciplined application of statutes and precedent. Just before joining the circuit bench, she worked at Florida Rural Legal Services, representing families in domestic relations cases and coordinating pro bono efforts to improve access to justice. Throughout her career, she has focused on fairness, accountability, and consistent application of the law.
A lifelong resident of Southwest Florida, Judge Levy-Reis grew up in Bonita Springs, attended local public schools, and graduated near the top of her class at Estero High School. Her academic achievements at Stetson University, along with her federal court experience, reinforce her belief that strong communities rely on stable families, clear rules, and a judiciary rooted in constitutional principles.
Judge Levy-Reis has actively served her community as President of the Southwest Florida Federal Court Bar Association, a Master at the Calusa Inn of Court, and a board member for Young Life, a Christian ministry supporting youth. Her involvement highlights her commitment to faith, family, and community — values that inspire admiration and trust in her character.
When she is not in the courtroom, Judge Levy-Reis volunteers at her church, supports her children’s school activities, and enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and two goldendoodles.
Judge Levy-Reis brings a strong constitutional foundation, a conservative judicial philosophy, and a deep respect for the rule of law. She is committed to ensuring that everyone who appears before her court is treated with dignity, fairness, and the equal protection guaranteed by our Constitution, building trust in her impartiality.
